Offering competitive, but good
natured matches on the public, city-centre courts in Edinburgh the Meadows Tennis League celebrated its first anniversary
in March 2009. Five rounds have already been played and dozens of players have taken part, improved their tennis, had
fun and met new people to play.
All players are welcome - existing members and new players - whatever their standard. It only costs £10 (£8 for students
and members of the Meadows Tennis Club) and every player has an approximate one in six chance of winning £20 - all
you have to do is win their group! Players also receive a FREE tube of tennis balls if they complete three matches by the
half way point.

Here's our mission
Not playing enough competitive tennis?
Want to keep fit through match play? The Meadows Tennis League is designed for all adult tennis players, whatever your age
or standard of play.
We hope to organise three or four sessions per year, each lasting for approximately two months. Players
are divided into mixed groups of about 6 or 7 based approximately on ability, so you should get five or six singles matches
in each round.
Winners and losers of their groups will move up or down in subsequent sessions (depending on league
size and accommodation of new players).
But the main goal is to give people the opportunity to play competitive but friendly singles matches
against players of a similar standard. The Meadows is a great tennis facility and the idea is to structure the league round
these accessible public courts.
Winners of each group receive a certificate and a £20 cash prize, or a free coaching lesson.
The entry fee for each round is £10. That covers administration, prizes and a free tube of tennis balls
for each player who completes three matches before the halfway point of each session.
